The online nursing application is now available for generic admission. Generic student
applications are received and reviewed for Fall admissions only. LPN-RN student applications
are received and reviewed for Spring admissions only. All other required materials
such as the OSBI background check, official transcripts, and ATI TEAS scores should
be emailed to the Nursing Program or placed in the mailbox outside of the Nursing and Allied Health office to maintain
social distancing and ensure obtainment of your documents accurately. If you would
like to drop of materials in person, we ask that you contact the Nursing Program or Dr. Jalelah Abdul-Raheem via email or phone 405.422.6224 prior to your arrival and schedule a day or time.
This is notification that students have the option to submit application materials
and admission in the program is subject to change based on board approval.

Redlands Community College Nursing Program admits one group or cohort per year. Generic
applications are due by March 15 each year for priority admission consideration. (application
remains open until April 15 for late applications) LPN-RN applications are due by
December 1 each year. Transfer applications are reviewed as received. Only the Nursing
Admission Application is automatically submitted.
Nursing Program Application Period and Deadlines:

Redlands Community College nursing program is approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
Graduates of this state-approved program are eligible to apply to write the National
Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for registered nurses. Applicants for Oklahoma
licensure must meet all state and federal requirements to hold an Oklahoma license
to practice nursing. In addition to completing a state-approved nursing education
program that meets educational requirements and successfully passing the licensure
examination, requirements include submission of an application for licensure, a criminal
history records search, and evidence of citizenship or qualified alien status [59
O.S. §§567.5 & 567.6]. To be granted a license, an applicant must have the legal right
to be in the United States (United States Code Chapter 8, Section 1621). In addition,
Oklahoma law only allows a license to be issued to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals,
and legal permanent resident aliens. Other qualified aliens may be issued a temporary
license that is valid until the expiration of their visa status, or if there is no
expiration date, for one year. Applicants who are qualified aliens must present to
the Board office, in person, valid documentary evidence of:
1. A valid, unexpired immigrant or nonimmigrant visa status for admission into
the United States;
2. A pending or approved application for asylum in the United States;
3. Admission into the United States in refugee status;
4. A pending or approved application for temporary protected status in the United
States;
5. Approved deferred action status; or
6. A pending application for adjustment of status to legal permanent resident status
or conditional resident status.
The Board has the authority to deny a license, recognition or certificate; issue a
license, recognition or certificate with conditions and/or an administrative penalty;
or to issue and otherwise discipline a license, recognition or certificate to an individual
with a history of criminal background, disciplinary action on any professional or
occupational license or certification, or judicial declaration of mental incompetence
[59 O.S. §567.8]. These cases are considered on an individual basis at the time application
for licensure is made. Potential applicants to state-approved education programs,
with a criminal history, may obtain a determination of eligibility for licensure or
certification from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing for a fee. The determination of eligibility

Nursing Program Outcomes
The Redlands Community College nursing program will graduate cohorts who:
- Maintain 80% or greater for all first-time test-takers; or 80% or greater for all
first-time test-takers and repeaters; or at or above the national/territorial mean
based on the nursing program type.
- Obtain employment at an annual rate of 85% or higher within eight months of graduation.
- Achieve all course objectives in cognitive, psychomotor and affective domain throughout
the program.

1. Professional Behaviors:
The RCC Nursing Graduate demonstrates leadership and commitment to the profession
of nursing through personal and professional responsibility. This includes accountability
for her/his professional, legal, and ethical practice in a variety of healthcare settings.
2. Communication:
The RCC Nursing Graduate will utilize therapeutic communication to demonstrate caring,
respect, compassion, and cultural awareness.
3. Assessment:
The RCC Nursing Graduate gathers and documents information from multiple sources to
establish a foundation for the provision of holistic nursing care.
4. Clinical Decision Making:
The RCC Nursing Graduate utilizes knowledge from sciences, humanities and nursing
to develop critical thinking, evidence based practice, and problem solving skills
in making clinical decisions.
5. Caring Interventions:
The RCC Nursing Graduate will exhibit caring behaviors through cultural awareness,
nurturing, compassion, acceptance, respect, and instilling hope & trust in order to
promote individualized holistic care.
The RCC Nursing graduate will identify, perform, and document accurate, competent,
and safe nursing care.
6. Teaching and Learning:
The RCC Nursing Graduate will utilize concepts of teaching and learning to facilitate
informed decision making, and support self-care activities through evaluation and
modification of the plan of care. The RCC Nursing Graduate will understand the value
of lifelong learning.
7. Safety:
The RCC Nursing graduate will identify, perform, and document accurate, competent,
and safe nursing care.
8. Collaboration:
The RCC Nursing Graduate will participate in the team approach to holistic, client
centered care across health care settings.
9. Managing Care:
The RCC Graduate will utilize available resources to plan, organize, and direct the
healthcare team to assist the clients’ transition within the healthcare settings.
Post-Graduation Options
Students who complete our nursing program can go right out and begin working as an
RN, or may also choose to continue their education with a Bachelors of Science in
Nursing (BSN) from a four-year institution. Redlands has a transfer credit agreement
with Northwestern Oklahoma State College that can help you get a leg up on your BSN.

Jalelah Abdul-Raheem received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2009, a Master of
Science in Nursing Education in 2010, and a Ph.D. in Nursing Education in 2015. Her
teaching experience includes undergraduate and graduate instruction in nursing programs.
Jalelah also has administrative experience in education, serving in previous roles
as coordinator and a director in nursing programs. She has taught in various course
such as Complex Adult Health, Pediatrics, Leadership and Management, and Community,
and has clinical expertise in Adult Medical Surgical, Pediatrics, Home Health and
Case Management. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and a Certified Simulation
Healthcare Educator (CHSE). Her research focus is in cultural humility and cultural
diversity.

Lauren Newell has worked as both a critical care and emergency nurse over the past
five years. She received her BSN through OUHSC in 2018. She is nationally certified
as a Progressive Care Certified Nurse as well as TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Certified. Lauren is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses
and the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. Lauren is currently enrolled and completing
coursework in a Family Nurse Practitioner Program through Texas Woman’s University.
She loves spending time at home farming and doing family activities.

Danaee received her Associate of Science in Nursing in 2017, her medical background
consists of over 10 years of allied health in different fields of healthcare. Upon
relocating to Oklahoma she worked as a charge on a Pediatric and Woman services unit.
In the past recent years she spent traveling to hospitals in OKC areas aiding in COVID-19
units and working with public health clinics throughout Oklahoma City’s Health Departments,
running testing and vaccines centers. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science
in Nursing Informatics. As someone who started her career with certificates at a community
college and currently still pursuing her career goals, she is passionate about education
promotion, and student success

Dorothea Holyan received her Masters of Education in 2022 and her Bachelors of Science
in 2020, both from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She is a full-blood Native
American, has grown up in rural Oklahoma, and has worked within the tribal communities
for over 20 years. She worked in tribal healthcare at the Clinton Indian Hospital
for 2 years. She is passionate about Native American representation within the health
care workforce and is committed to the success of the NASNTI grant within the Nursing
Programs at both Redlands Community College and Western Oklahoma State College. .

A home-grown success story, Haley Siebold received an Associate of Science in Nursing
in 2018 from Redlands Community College. After graduation, Haley applied her training
through work experience in the local healthcare field. This included positions at
the University of Oklahoma Medical Center and SSM Healthplex in El Reno, along with
experience working under a Physician Assistant. A mother and wife, Haley enjoys spending
time with family and pets. She is passionate about the Redlands Nursing Program and
the opportunities that it gives the next generation of healthcare professionals.
